Here at the sentinel our most valuable asset is our residents. We provide a healthy and safe environment for the resident, and strive to meet that goal at all times.
Our residents enjoy a wide variety of social and private activities offered on a daily basis. From Yoga, Bingo and Manicures to Sunday Mass, Baking Clubs and Horse Racing, our programming is truly unique. See for yourself!
The Sentinel is the best assisted-living residence I have ever toured. My Mom is a resident there. The staff is extremely caring. Mom receives assistance for the tasks she needs help with. Everything is very clean. There are many windows and lots of light. The food is good, and the staff is open to suggestions. The activities are fun, and my mom is always busy. I can’t say enough great words about The Sentinel of Amsterdam.
You have to tour this fine assisted-living residence, meet the administration, staff and all the happy residents.

Always doing something nice for the residents and also for their families on special occasions. Staff treat residents well, with smiles, and encouraging words. A very nice place with a great staff.

This place is a godsend to our family. My widowed father-in-law was quite lonely and struggling to manage in his apartment, but now that he has moved to The Sentinel, he has made new friends, enjoys the excellent meals in the dining room (especially the soups), has his laundry done for him, jokes with the friendly attentive staff, attends the activities (including the theater) and relaxes in the comforts of his room. The staff made our whole family feel very welcome during our initial visit and went way out of their way to ease Dad’s transition in the move. They even came with a van to his apartment to collect his belongings and the few bits of furniture he wanted to bring (desk, file cabinet, recliner).
There is a primary care doctor who comes to the office in the facility weekly to see patients there, and transport can be arranged to go to specialist physicians, as needed. I call this place the “Taj Mahal” of assisted-living facilities! I have visited such places all over the U.S. and worked in many, and this is truly one of the finest.

It’s so sweet when they hire an outdoor DJ, as I live nearby and enjoy the tunes! The place looks so nice and clean. I love seeing the residents outside.
